Hobbit Quotes

My teeny tiny canvas! Painted with a quote from The Hobbit. Funny thing, I started this before the movie came out. I have been in a small vacuum and didn't see any previews for it until it was just about out. It was always my favorite of those books. Sadly, I still haven't seen it.

I intend to paint to frame too, a nice glossy black. But I think you can see the detail better before I paint it.

Can you see the dragon holding the arkenstone?

Crystals and such a beautiful spoon!

Isn't that a great pattern on the spoon? I love the flowers. I do some work with clay and am always in need of new pattern making materials.

The necklaces need a little work. The crystal needs a new clasp. The old one seems to have been banged out of shape. It won't open!

The sun is an amazing piece. Stone, I'll figure out what kind later, and the connector beads are made of the same stuff. The metal hooks are a bit loose. I have to tighten them up before I wear it.

It's cold. It's time to bring a little sun to my wardrobe.

Glass Globes for Gardens!

I am going to use this globe in next year's garden. I am running electric to the garden around the big tree in the back. I want to hang some lights there so with this little beauty I'm going to extend a little line down to it and run some twinkle lights inside.

Or I may just pop a solar garden stake light inside.

They tumblers are cute, I'll have to look up their history and figure out what to do with them. The cloth pile is pillow cases. I keep needing more. I buy king fitted sheets, because we have a big fluffy down pad on top of our mattress and our queen sheets keep popping off. They just don't seem to have deep pocket queen sheets. But since all I need is the fitted sheet, I toss a couple blankets on top (it is going down to 44 tonight) and call the bed made! -But I am short a few pillowcases

Working on Shoes

I love the end of a season when they toss great items on sale for peanuts!

It's pretty hard to find size 11 shoes at the regular stores. Finding them at the thrift store is amazing. These two pairs of sandals are just great. The white and yellow are so amazingly comfy, and the yellow is real suede. While yellow and white are truly not my colors, the comfy-iness more than makes up for it.

Now the tan ones... Ugh. Simple lines. They fit. Those are the best things I can say about them. The cushioning is lacking and I really hate beige.

Wait, why did I buy them again?

Because I also scored, but forgot to photograph, a set of nice cushioned insoles. And I keep browsing through Pinterest looking at shoe make-overs. So, clean lines, good fit, cushion problem fixed. I have glitter, modge podge, tissue paper, and lots of books. I think I can rock these next year in a much more amazing style.

Oh, and I may dye the leather on the yellow sandals. Who knows? Maybe royal blue?

Kitchen Candy

Someday I will get a better camera. Someday all my photos will be beautiful.

Maybe as beautiful as the things I find.

Bulletin Board

This blank bulletin board is for my niece. She's in high school now. I'm going to help her stencil on it. I have one over my desk that's got a nice big goldfish on it. I hope she enjoys it.

My Workstation

This is my workstation right now.

I'm working with some clay. Trying to pattern it in interesting ways. Cutting it in interesting ways. Using all that patterned brass I keep picking up.

These are going to be pendants. Not sure what color I'm going to paint them yet. But I love the shapes they make. Whoo! Now I need to go to bed. I need to work tomorrow.

Beautiful Pitcher and a Mystery

I adore this pitcher. It's such a great shape and that pattern is so unusual. There are no cracks in it and only one minor chip. But I'm not looking to sell this baby. It's all mine!

I need to soak the metal lid and scrub a little rust off of it, but then it's going to be used! For what now....That I'm not sure. It would be better if I drank coffee. That would be perfect.

And now the mystery. Those two jars look like avon jars. But there is no writing on the bottom! And avon always marked their territory. They have candles melted inside of them. Since the neck of the bottles are narrower than the candles have become, I need to cut them out. I wish it was easier. But it's not. Oh well! It's a project! Whoo!

Finished Magnets

My finished magnets. The Darth Vader is helping to hang my friend's baby announcement...tee-hee...

Always wait 24hours for any glue to dry before stressing the bond. Always.

Magnets!

I was a little bored today. I needed a little half hour project.

It took about 4 hours.

I needed some more magnets. Much to my mother's dismay, she is not a grandmother. But my fridge is filled with children's artwork and school pictures anyway. My friend's babies are there, my cousin's kids. My friend's new grandchild. And of course, my nieces and nephews.

But all the art is overpowering the little magnets I have. So I had this package of magnets...

I started searching for doodads. I found one. I found a whole bunch of stuff that I needed to sort through. I sat on the floor surrounded by all the stuff I had removed from my craft table. I sorted, I started reading a book I found in the pile. I realized that my glue bottle had a hole in it and the whole thing was a solid block.

I went to the craft store. I stopped in 2 thrift stores on the way. *nothing there, just a quick visit.

I finally got home, stuffed the rest of the unsorted crap back into what ever hell hole it came out of (under my craft desk) and got on with the project.

I had to twist the back off an earring and use some pliers to remove the hardware from a pin, but everything else took about 30 seconds.

Had to buy shoes!

I had to run some errands today. I had the grocery list and all my grocery bags. I told my husband I might also buy a pair of sandals today. I was in need.

I didn't say that I was going to check for them in the thrift store first. But by now, I think he knows.

It was a good idea. I found this pair and now don't have to go to K-Mart.

Also grabbed this wack 80s picture. I don't think they looked good even in the environments that they were in when they were in vogue. I guess tastes just change.

pretty flower canvas

This canvas is a nice small size which is perfect for some of my wall projects. The stretched canvases are the best. The board paintings have to be framed before they can be hung, which is kind of a pain.

I'm not sure what kind of phrasing will go on this one. But I'm sure it will be fun to make.

Oh so interesting

I found another candlestick of course.

But the other piece is really interesting. It's like a porthole cover. I am thinking of turning it into a picture frame.

Is is a car part? Any clues?

I tried to make this great wreath I've been seeing on Pinterest. I love the look of it, it's so summery and cute. I finally found the right yarn. My craft stores have been out of this color for about 2 months. Seems that everyone else saw this tutorial too.

So I got my foam wreath ring. My yarn. A few flowers and some pins.

I started wrapping with high spirits. Five minutes later.....I had gotten about an inch done. Then I pushed the yarn together so I couldn't seen the foam ring anymore. And I had about a quarter of an inch.

Uh.....how long was this supposed to take anyway?

By my calculations...5, 6, 10, 30...FOREVER! After twenty minutes, I unwrapped the anchor pin, pulled it all off and took the wreath and yarn back. Which is why there is no picture of my wreath.

Maybe I'll make a second hat wreath for the second door. That was pretty easy.

More Canvas for projects

My last canvas project turned out so well, I decided to make some more. So I'm still collecting interesting canvases. This one is destined as a present for my husband for our anniversary.

I like the cool ice cube tray, but I think it could be a mini muffin pan too. Or just an organizer for my beads.

The circular frame is also neat. I am not sure what to put in it yet, but I do have some ideas.

Spotted: Amazing new project!

I have a Facebook account. Of course. My mother even has a Facebook account. She can't use it...but she does have one. So I see a lot of ads. Most of them are for nothing I want to see. But one popped up for Hometalk, and I decided to find out what was there.

I went to their website to find out more before I just liked them. Oh man! So cool. It's like a page of people who have made Pinterest projects and want to show them to you.

This woman made some seriously cool flowers!

And I love this woman's new fence.

The fence reminds me of the movie Monster's Inc. I am a big fan of movie titles and this movie had the most fantastic titles I've seen in a long time. This fence is just like that.

I may make the flowers. I don't have a yard to make the doors.

I like big books

I finished a project I found on Pinterest!

I posted about this project a while ago. I debated what phrase to use, but I found that this is perfectly for me.

I put it over one of my bookcases. It makes me smile every time I see it.

New Wreath

Now that it's almost summer, I thought it was time to get a new wreath for the front door.

Of course, a nice wreath is almost impossible to find at the thrift store. I can find lots of bad ones. Lots of ones with dust so thick you can't tell what color the flowers were. And some overstocks from Target that would be amazing. Except they are usually broken.

So when I saw this hat on the shelf, I knew just what to do.

All I needed was a garland of daisies and a few paper clips...and Voila!

Summer wreath that I can take apart and actually use as a hat if I need to.

As-Is

These plates are just beautiful. The colors are rich, the patterns are rich and lovely. Why were they as-is? Weeeellll...You can barely see it from the photo, but the top plate has this line going across it. It's a crack. Not a little hairline one, a fairly significant one. So significant that I will be able to break it completely in half by putting very little pressure on it.

The one on the bottom isn't as bad. But it's close. Which is good, because I keep buying plates for projects and I can't bring myself to break them apart. These are already broken.

Macrame

I recently found this very large lot of macrame hoops all taped together and selling for two dollars. There are a couple bamboo, which could be handbag handles as well. There are a few metal and a few plastic. But they all have the same destination in mind.

I have wanted to make some wind chimes for awhile now. I made one for my sister-in-law and her girlfriend for Christmas, but it wasn't really what I wanted it to look like. I have a better chance of making it right this time! These hoops are going to be the tops. They are wide enough and sturdy enough to hold up to a bunch of glass hanging from them.

I hope to have a finished picture for you within the month.

And I just like cheese graters. I really do.

Linking up here this week!
