Something Creepy and Some Awesomeness

So apparently these guys are waiting for a friend to hatch....

Who painted this?!

And oh yeah! Show me the way to go home. Point me in the right direction. Which way to San Jose? And so forth.

I wish this had more glasses. But I really love the paint job on this thing!

Tivoli Gardens

I know Tivoli Gardens is still open. It's a neat place from the pictures I've seen. But I really love the vintage-style graphics on these. I didn't buy them, but I loved them.

M*A*S*H and Jamie Wyeth

I really love MASH. It's probably my favorite series of all time. My husband and I only have one dissagreement about it. I like BJ Honeycutt better and he likes Trapper John.

I didn't buy this plate because (a) what would I do with it? (b) it was ten dollars. (c) it was done after Radar-my fav- was gone.

Do you think I should have gotten it anyway?

This is something I did get. He is hanging on my wall right now. It is Jamie Wyeth's 'Portrait of a Pig'

I know that the original is quite huge and I read that they original is currently at the Brandywine River Museum. If you are a Wyeth fan and in PA, I suggest you go. If you are in Maine, go to the Farnsworth Museum.

Long ago, my grandmother went to the Farnsworth Museum. There she saw this picture in person. It is a very large painting of a very large pig. She said to my aunt, 'Its nice, but why a pig?' A gentleman standing nearby told her it was because he loved the pig and thought someone should paint everyday things too.

She found out later that that man was Jamie Wyeth.

Glass for my walls

This is a monster. No, seriously, it is about 12 inches long. I got it because I already have these to match it:

The ones already on the wall. Or that were on the wall. I walked by them yesterday and knocked the one on the bottom off and it fell onto the hall bench and broke it's neck!

I am very upset about that. I really don't want to talk about it, I'm that upset.

I wanted to hang the new guy up as soon as possible, but I've been hanging on to it for a week, trying to figure out where the Halloween stuff is going to go. I wanted to have the two small on this side and the large one at the other end of my hallway. Now... Sigh.

I hate breaking stuff. I can modify the broken one and use it in my craft room, but the ones in the hall, I may have to hang the larger one low and the small one above. I'll be moving them at any rate. And I think I'll wait until spring to hang them.

Barn art and some pretty cups

These cups are just awesome. I really love the pattern on them. It's just so bright....and what? I've been banned from buying dishes? Uh-huh...

No one will ever see these...

I'll distract my husband with this cool black and white picture of a barn that I bought just for him.

Had to buy shoes!

I had to run some errands today. I had the grocery list and all my grocery bags. I told my husband I might also buy a pair of sandals today. I was in need.

I didn't say that I was going to check for them in the thrift store first. But by now, I think he knows.

It was a good idea. I found this pair and now don't have to go to K-Mart.

Also grabbed this wack 80s picture. I don't think they looked good even in the environments that they were in when they were in vogue. I guess tastes just change.

Amazing Art!

I bought these to paint over. But I'm not going to.

They are just amazing.

I wish I knew who Jia Liu was. From the writing, it seems that they are young. Probably a student. I love these paintings.

Jia Liu, if you ever see this, thank you so much.

pretty flower canvas

This canvas is a nice small size which is perfect for some of my wall projects. The stretched canvases are the best. The board paintings have to be framed before they can be hung, which is kind of a pain.

I'm not sure what kind of phrasing will go on this one. But I'm sure it will be fun to make.

More Canvas for projects

My last canvas project turned out so well, I decided to make some more. So I'm still collecting interesting canvases. This one is destined as a present for my husband for our anniversary.

I like the cool ice cube tray, but I think it could be a mini muffin pan too. Or just an organizer for my beads.

The circular frame is also neat. I am not sure what to put in it yet, but I do have some ideas.

I like big books

I finished a project I found on Pinterest!

I posted about this project a while ago. I debated what phrase to use, but I found that this is perfectly for me.

I put it over one of my bookcases. It makes me smile every time I see it.

Ideas for wall art

Eventually I will make something like this. This is what makes Pinterest so amazing and inspiring.

restyled, thrifted wall art
This is a bit of art made from a thrifted painting. Using vinyl letters and some paint, something kinda ugly got turned into something amazing.

I'm going to keep my eye out for some nice paintings. Or...I'll find some nice un-stretched canvas fabric and paint it up, stick it over a frame and do it that way. I want to do Adele's Set Fire To The Rain, so I want a canvas with a lot of blue with some red. I may not be able to find that so easily.

I can find a bunch of terrible prints, but that may not have the same effect as doing it on canvas. Canvas is harder to find.

I'll try my best and show you anything I come up with.

Regrets

This picture is a big regret for me. And I mean big. It was around 30-35 inches by 20some. It's just a light wood frame and the picture is all cloth. I really regret that I simply don't have the space to bring this home. But I am using this picture as my cell phone background. So I can keep it in mind anyway.

This is what I want in my kitchen! It is pretty much exactly what I want. All I'd have to do is take out the acoustic tile ceiling, rewire the fixtures, take all the wallpaper down, refinish the walls, change the counter tops, stain the cabinets and redo the floor.

Best not to open that can of worms.

This bowl is pressed glass. It felt cheap. But....I really liked it. I am trying to be strong. It might still be there if I went back today. No. I'll be strong.

Daisy Chains

Something happens to the thrift stores in my area in the spring and fall. They start to really suck.

It probably happens all over, but I still hate it. I found some nice capris. It is hot out. I also snagged some good copper mini cauldrons for halloween. The best thing of all was an embroidered daisy picture. Gives me ideas for some projects and looks great on the wall too. ...also, this odd little brass thing. I'm going to use it for a bracelet holder. Anyone have any idea what it is for?
