Brand Names

Clockwise, starting at the top, the patterned top in the with the purple embroidery is a Dana Buchman, the brown is a fashion bug vest, the blue gauzy leopard print is Victoria Secret, the sparkly one is Avenue, and the coral colored silk is a Michael Kors.

They are sitting around and in yet another Willow House wire basket.

It's 6th one I've found so far. This one is missing it's top handle. But I always take them off anyway. I think I'll give one to my sister in law. She is making a basket up for a neighbor who's son is sick. Poor kid.

Sorry I was missing for awhile. It's not that I'm not thrifting, it's that I'm cooking more. And sleeping. I need the sleeping!

Cake!

It is my intention to make little cakes. And eat them with beautiful spoons.

Or display a bunch of candles floating around in a big punch bowl in the spring. Either way I have a project upcoming.

The little owl is a trivet, but I may hang him on my wall. And look! Another one of these! Now all I need is the yellow one to have a complete set. Whoot! (or whooo! if the owl was speaking....I know I'm corny.)

Snowballs!

I mentioned to my husband yesterday that I was going to get some styrofoam for decorations. We took down the Christmas decor and it's just too damn early for the Valentines Day things. I'll put that up the last week of January. And it can share space with the snowmen I have left around.

So what did I find today at the thrift store? Styrofoam balls. 8 little ones and 6 big ones. That fills up my large bowl and another small one too.

The long bit of slate will be painted or something and the little embroidery hoops are going to get some permanent embroidered art in the near future. I'm thinking cheerful narwhal.

And I picked up a whole bunch of really nice big band CDs and a Nirvana Unplugged album for my husband. I hope he doesn't already have it.

I also grabbed the little Southern Living/Willow House wire catch-all container. I have quite a few already. Around four of the little buggers.

Also picked up what I think is a Fostoria milk glass top hat bowl. As I browse around the milk glass blogs, people seem to think they are valuable. But I keep finding them at thrift stores. I am trying to get a bin together to go to the flea market next year. So I might as well start gathering some things that are getting some buzz.

But the killer is the cross stitch hoop! It's a rattan grid hoop, and while I love embroidery, I'm not big with the cross stitch thing. I might do a little, but that won't interfere with the use I'm putting it to. It's going to be an earring holder. It's gonna be so cool.

Spire

I love pens. I have so many of them they overflow my collection bins. I spotted this silverware holder and thought that this would be a nice change from the various cups they are in right now. It looks pretty good all set up.

When I looked at it the first time, I thought it was cool. I asked myself how I knew that it was a silverware holder. And I realized that a few of my friends had the exact same ones. Southern Living/Willow House of course. The thing is HEAVY.

And my spire. I have bracelets around it right now. But it is so nice.

Southern Living

I found another bit of Southern Living stuff today. These planters came in a set of three and go for 15 to 30 dollars on ebay.

I only have one of them, but I think it was cheap enough.

Yay!

Santos Angel

So I've kinda been all over the place lately. Lots of things have happened in only a week! I'll keep the updates going as this week rolls along rather than blasting you with an enormous post.

I was only able to go thrifting once this past week, but it was an amazing trip. I found a great supply of good books. I love the Xanth novels. They are the perfect antidote for actual news. Because news is usually bad. And Xanth is always good, and entertaining.

So 4 Xanth novels a couple other misc books and wait, what's that? A biography of Chang and Eng the original Siamese twins? Score! Did you know that someone wrote that? Isn't it a great idea? And remember the drag queen from 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil'? She's real, that really was her and she wrote an autobiography. And let me tell you, she is SASSY!

I also picked up some really cute necklaces. I had to post because the one in the middle is the coolest ever! It's missing it's stopper, but its a pretty nice little perfume vial.

I wanted a cool new butter dish. The basic glass is just so boring. So I jumped at the chance at this Snowflake Blue pyrex one. Chandelier dangles are just the best and good vintage marbles are a decorating must have. All the new marbles I find are all boring, single color types. I find very many piggy banks, but most are missing the bottom plugs. This one was intact and all silver. Perfect for a baby gift I need.

And what can I say about the angel. Oh the angel. The Santos Angel. The Willow House Santos Angel that I got for $7dollars. The one on the right. The one on the left I bought for $30 at a Willow House party. Now I have a matching set. Yay!

Who needs expensive things?

While I was browsing around on Pinterest one day, I came across these amazing jars.
http://www.lyonsglass.com/bigjars.html

I was stunned by how pretty they are. Also by the fact that they don't give you prices. Yikes.

Imagine how thrilled I was to see this shimmery green near copy, also hand-blown and still with it's HomeGoods price tag on it?

I was also pleased with the tea strainer, cup, cute little dish and clear owl jar. I was even more pleased with the giant rounds wire....thing. It looks just like the Southern Livi--sorry, Willow House stuff my friends can all afford. I'm using it to hold magazines and weekly circulars on the kitchen table. They fit perfectly.
