Presents for my Husband

The holidays are coming sooo fast! Found these little beauties for my guitar playing hubby.

And another little surprise for him. Since he is afraid of sharks...

Hope all your shopping is going well! I'm falling behind, out I go again!

cats and crickets

So this is a Jim Shore piece. The kitty has a halo and angel wings... I think I'm sending it to a friend for Christmas.

The cricket, I should probably keep for myself. They are lucky after all. I don't have a hearth, but he can sit on the radiator.

And who doesn't need a cheese spreader?

All The Cool Kids

My local Goodwills have that wonderful connection to Target. I think it's wonderful. I get the best deals. Like these.

I love oxford shoes. Lately, the ones for sale have all had toes that were much too pointed for me. I wear an 11, they are big enough without adding 4inch spikes to my toes.

These are perfect. They have a great profile, lovely classic oxford stitching and a normal sized toe. So you know what they say: If the shoe fits, buy it in every color. So I did.

The guitar is a little present for my husband. He plays, and drinks beer. So a guitar beer opener is just the ticket.

Oh My God I Found It!

I have been looking all over for something like this.

It's so funky. It's so cute. It's so.... Perfect.

It needs some cleaning up and some new knobs. Maybe some paint. The shelf inside has to be replaced and I'm going to be adding some of those rails that hold wine glasses upside down by their stems. And a piece of plexi for the top. Maybe a towel bar on the side that I can use for a handle too. It's got wheels already.

Yeah, it's gonna be a bar cart.

The Mongol Horde

My friend had a birthday in early december. But he's been out of the country for school. So when he recently came home for a visit, I was so excited to give him the present I've been saving for him.

It's a children's book from the 1950s. And it falls perfectly into his area of study. I thought of him immediately when I saw it and would've bought it for him even if there was no birthday or holiday coming up. Sometimes things just speak to me that way.

These just said take me home.

But I thought they looked awesome with the book, so I gave him one and kept the other. Turkish scimitar letter openers. How does life get better?

The Gnome

I mentioned before that I was making a gnome for my friend for Christmas. I forgot to post the pictures before the holidays. Here is the finished product!

She loves yoga, so I put the Om on the his back. She thought he was the greatest thing. She was jumping around the party showing him to everyone. She wants me to make some more so her kids can have some and not steal hers.

I think he was a hit.

Other uses for my dutch oven

The last thing I posted about was this beautiful dutch oven I bought. I haven't posted any new things for a few days, because I've been Christmas shopping instead of Thrifting. And baking instead of dealing.

For a pollyanna exchange I was involved in this past weekend, I made my friend a gnome. Okay. I took a bendi doll and made him some clothes and a hat and a beard. But when I went to dress him, his 'skin' was the same snowy white as his beard. So he needed to get a bath.

Here he is hot tubbin in some nice black tea. It's not like it's the most appealing thing to bathe in, but if I could get a tan in that way, I'd take a bath in tea in an instant.

He's finished, but more pictures later!

Namaste!

I am about to make cookies. I need to whisk eggs into soft peaks and fold them into my chocolate sauce....

Oh dear. Now I'm drooling on my keyboard. That is never good.

My pollyanna this year is a friend who loves yoga. And whimsy. So I am making her a yoga partner. One of these guys is destined to be Elizabeth's friend. I over-ordered because I can't find them at my local craft stores anymore. Seems that no one wants to be a maker of dolls anymore.
